Part of Me

Part of Me is a photographic series that explores the interpersonal cultural dynamics of my adoption in an effort to connect with my Chinese heritage.

Personal records, family photos, and Gotcha-Day gifts are contextualized into delicate cyanotype prints, toned in green tea and printed on calligraphy paper. The dark blue haze conveys a sense of saudade, mourning, and nostalgia towards the past. Such memories and artifacts make up an ambivalent connection to my birthplace that is only partially known.
